In a disturbing development, two lecturers from a private college in Moodbidri, Karnataka, along with their friend, were arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly raping and blackmailing a female student. The incident came to light after the victim approached the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, which helped escalate the matter to Marathahalli Police .

According to the police, Narendra, a physics lecturer, gained the student's trust by offering study assistance before allegedly raping her in a friend’s Bengaluru flat and coercing her into silence through threats . Later, Sandeep, a biology lecturer, pressured her by leveraging intimate photos from the first incident, eventually raping her too. Their friend, Anup, allegedly joined in and continued to blackmail her with claims of CCTV footage .

Overwhelmed by fear and exploitation, the student confided in her parents, leading to her complaint and the subsequent arrests of all three . Police are now investigating whether the accused targeted other students similarly. The trio remains in custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
