In a startling and controversial claim, Abdollah Ganji, a senior Iranian official and former editor of the IRGC-affiliated Javan newspaper, alleged that Israel used occult forces and supernatural spirits during its recent 12-day conflict. Ganji made the remarks on X (formerly Twitter) to his 150,000 followers, describing the war as involving a “strange phenomenon” that cannot be explained by conventional military means.
Although he offered no evidence, Ganji implied that non-material forces were at play and hinted that Israel's battlefield success or strategy had mystical backing. The post has sparked wide disbelief and mockery online, with many questioning the seriousness of the claim while others see it as an attempt to rationalize military setbacks or unpredictability during the war.
This isn’t the first time Middle Eastern conflicts have been accompanied by supernatural rhetoric, but Ganji’s assertion adds a new and surreal dimension to post-war narratives in the region.
Israeli officials have not responded to the comments.
