Spending over ₹50K? HDFC will now charge you more!

HDFC Bank has introduced major changes to its credit card policies starting July 2025. These changes will affect users making utility payments, wallet loads, online gaming transactions, and more.

If you spend more than ₹50,000 (consumer) or ₹75,000 (business) in a month, a 1% fee will apply to utility bill payments - capped at ₹4,999. Wallet loads above ₹10,000 per month on apps like Paytm, Mobikwik, or Ola Money will also incur a 1% charge. Similarly, gaming transactions exceeding ₹10,000 monthly on platforms like Dream11, MPL, and RummyCulture will attract a 1% fee with no reward points.

Rent payments will continue to carry a 1% fee, capped at ₹4,999. Fuel payments will only be charged if they exceed ₹15,000 or ₹30,000 depending on the card type. Education payments made via third-party apps will also face the 1% fee.

Insurance payments remain exempt from charges and still offer reward points, subject to monthly limits.
