2026 is almost here, and travel lovers are ditching the old predictable bucket lists. National Geographic has released a fresh list of 25 global destinations that are transforming in surprising ways - and the top 10 are already stealing the spotlight.
Leading the list are the Dolomites in Italy, which are gearing up to host the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games across 8,500 sq miles of breathtaking mountains. With luxury boutique stays, farm-to-table restaurants, and panoramic snow views, this region is expected to become one of next year’s biggest travel magnets.
Turkey’s Kaleici is also making a comeback with its restored old-town charm, revamped waterfronts, and cultural hotspots attracting global wanderers. Several destinations on the list are introducing underwater museums, city revamps, and new culinary hubs, giving travellers unique reasons to explore beyond the usual favourites.
2026 is shaping up to be the year of unexpected travel discovery - where every destination has something brand new to offer.
