Many urban professionals treat regular food-delivery as convenience, but that habit quietly drains ₹35,000–₹40,000 every month. CA Nitin Kaushik argues on social media that instead of this recurring expense, hiring a skilled home cook plus buying groceries — costing usually ₹18,000–₹25,000 per month — makes more sense.
This switch immediately frees up at least ₹15,000 per month; over a year, that’s around ₹1.8 lakh saved. At a modest 12% return, investing these savings can grow into over ₹5.6 lakh in 5 years — all from a simple lifestyle change.
Beyond the financial upside, the shift brings lifestyle and health benefits. Home-cooked meals usually use fresher ingredients and healthier cooking methods, offering better nutrition and consistent meal quality. Kaushik says the change brings long-term stability: a stable monthly household expense, a steady income for the cook, and better time and health management for individuals.
For many busy professionals, this idea turns convenience into conscious living — sacrificing a bit of immediate comfort for healthier meals, financial discipline, and potential long-term gains.
