A 3.3 magnitude earthquake rattled Gujarat's Kutch district on July 31, 2025, at 9:52 am IST, according to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) based in Gandhinagar. The tremor’s epicentre was identified 16 km south-southwest of Bela, towards the southern Kutch region.
Officials confirmed that there were no casualties or property damage, and the tremor caused only minor shaking that residents described as brief and unsettling. Kutch is located in a “very high risk” seismic zone, where low-intensity quakes frequently occur without causing harm.
The region is known for its seismic activity, with the devastating 2001 Bhuj earthquake still remembered as one of India’s deadliest natural disasters—causing around 13,800 deaths and extensive destruction across Kutch and nearby districts .
Local disaster response teams remain vigilant, but no alerts or relief efforts have been deemed necessary following this tremor.
