₹4 Lakh/month! Court orders Mohammed Shami to pay massive alimony to ex-wife

The Calcutta High Court has ordered Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami to pay ₹4 lakh monthly alimony to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan—₹1.5 lakh for her maintenance and ₹2.5 lakh for their minor daughter's expenses.

Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee's order significantly increased the 2018 Alipore Court ruling of ₹1.3 lakh monthly. The decision considered Shami's annual income of approximately ₹7.19 crore and Jahan's claimed monthly expenses exceeding ₹6 lakh.

Jahan, a former model who married Shami in 2014, had initially sought ₹10 lakh monthly. Their relationship soured in 2018 when she accused him of domestic violence and dowry harassment. The court deemed the revised amount "just, fair and reasonable" for ensuring financial stability.
