In the rapidly shifting job market, today’s Gen Z is rethinking the traditional straight-path from classroom to career. According to the NASSCOM India Skills Report 2025, students are increasingly favouring flexible, experience-based steps before making long-term career commitments. www.ndtv.com
One major trend: short, mentor-led courses - such as a focused “SQL Essentials” programme from NIIT - that offer hands-on exposure to tech roles without the commitment of a full degree. Work-integrated learning is also taking off: internships, apprenticeships and project-based modules are helping young people test actual work scenarios before they fully dive in.
Another key shift is the use of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India: these provide global exposure in roles spanning operations, analytics and tech - giving students international scale experience while staying local. Simultaneously, high-intensity formats like hackathons, ideathons and bootcamps are enabling rapid skill testing in realistic environments.
In short: Gen Z is embracing agility, real-world exposure and shorter exploratory formats to navigate careers with more clarity and less risk.
