The Congress party has taken a sharp jab at the Modi-led NDA government, alleging that the much-touted "acche din" promise has turned into a harsh reality of economic distress and growing public debt. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused the Centre of turning a blind eye to the financial struggles of ordinary citizens.
“The bottom line is that the economic condition of the common people in India is very worrying, but the Modi Government is completely careless,” Ramesh said in a statement.
He pointed to rising unemployment, inflation, and household debt as key indicators of a failing economic strategy. The party claims the government is prioritizing optics over outcomes, while millions of Indians battle high prices and stagnant wages. With elections looming and public sentiment under scrutiny, this latest political salvo sets the stage for a renewed debate over the country’s economic future.
Will “acche din” ever arrive, or are Indians stuck in a cycle of debt and disappointment?
