Apple has appointed Indian-origin executive Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer, replacing Jeff Williams in a long-planned succession. Khan, a 30-year Apple veteran currently serving as senior vice president of operations, will assume the role later this month.
Born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh in 1966, Khan moved to Singapore and later the US, earning engineering degrees from Tufts University and RPI. He joined Apple's procurement team in 1995 after working at GE Plastics.
CEO Tim Cook praised Khan as a "central architect" of Apple's supply chain, highlighting his role in advanced manufacturing technologies, US manufacturing expansion, and environmental sustainability efforts that reduced Apple's carbon footprint by over 60 percent. Williams will continue overseeing design teams and Apple Watch until retirement.
