The International Cricket Council's four-day AGM begins Thursday in Singapore, with chairman Jay Shah and CEO Sanjog Gupta leading discussions on cricket's future structure. Key agenda items include the debated two-tier Test system, with fund allocation and promotion-relegation clauses under review, though implementation won't occur before 2027.
The ICC may expand the T20 World Cup from 20 to 24 teams, driven by cricket's 2028 Olympics return and Italy's qualification for next year's tournament. Italy's participation signals cricket's growing global appeal, encouraging wider audience engagement.
The meeting will also finalize the T20 World Cup inquiry regarding cost overruns that contributed to former CEO Geoff Allardice's resignation. Additionally, Zambia is set to rejoin as an Associate member after 2019 suspension, while East Timor seeks first-time membership.
