The scorching summer heat has taken over North India, with temperatures in Delhi soaring past 40°C, resembling peak June weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for 10 states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra from April 25 to 30.
In Delhi, areas like Ridge reported 41.3°C, while Aya Nagar and Palam recorded 40.6°C and 39.7°C respectively. Meanwhile, parts of Northeast India are expected to receive relief with thunderstorms and heavy rain predicted in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh over the next few days.
Severe heat conditions are likely to prevail in western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, and Jharkhand. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid stepping out during peak hours, and take necessary precautions.
As climate patterns become more unpredictable, balancing between extreme heat and sudden rain is becoming the new normal for millions across India.
