OpenAI has unveiled a new image library feature within ChatGPT, enhancing the user experience by allowing seamless management, editing, and sharing of AI-generated images. This feature is being rolled out to all Free, Plus, and Pro users across mobile and web platforms.
The newly introduced "Library" section, accessible from the ChatGPT sidebar, displays a grid view of previously created images and includes an option to generate new ones. A demonstration video showcases the functionality of the image library, highlighting its seamless integration with the existing ChatGPT interface.
This development follows the recent popularity of AI-generated images, particularly those inspired by Studio Ghibli's art style. OpenAI's GPT-4o model has enabled users to create such images, leading to a trend where social media platforms are flooded with dreamy, hand-painted-style visuals.
In addition to the Ghibli-style images, ChatGPT's image generation capabilities extend to various styles, including watercolor, cyberpunk, oil painting, pixel art, and noir. Users can also apply effects like background blur and convert black and white photos into color.
The introduction of the image library aims to provide users with a centralized space to review and manage their AI-generated artwork. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who frequently create images with ChatGPT, offering a streamlined workflow for accessing and organizing their creations.
