Crying is a natural emotional release, but did you know it can impact your skin too?
While tears aren't harmful, their pH level (around 7) differs from that of the skin (around 5.5), which may cause mild irritation or dryness.
Rubbing your eyes while crying can lead to puffiness, dark circles, and even acne flare-ups.
To protect your skin, gently blot your face instead of wiping it harshly. Applying a cold compress and washing your face with cool water helps reduce swelling.
Rehydrating with water and using a moisturizer rich in ceramides or hyaluronic acid can restore lost hydration.
Cucumbers and potato slices are great home remedies to reduce puffiness and dark circles. And remember - lack of sleep or stress can worsen under-eye concerns. So next time the tears flow, let them, but treat your skin kindly afterward.
Bonus Tip: Use caffeine-based eye creams to reduce puffiness and boost skin tone!
