Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inaugurated a six-lane flyover from Nand Nagri to Gagan Cinema and simultaneously flagged off 300 electric DEVi buses to boost Trans-Yamuna connectivity.
Gupta announced that the entire public transport fleet in Delhi will be converted to electric within the next 12–18 months. The routes for these 300 buses have been “rationalised” in consultation with IIT Delhi to ensure deeper reach into border and underserved areas.
Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh revealed that 21 new bus routes covering 625 bus stops have been launched in the Trans-Yamuna region to strengthen last-mile connectivity. Meanwhile, the six-lane flyover - delayed over tree-clearance and permissions - was described as a milestone for easing traffic, cutting pollution, and improving mobility across East and Northeast Delhi.
Criticising the previous AAP government, Gupta pledged to transform the city’s transport backbone and raise standards of access for residents east of the Yamuna.
