Delhi under yellow alert as Rain, thunderstorms bring relief and chaos!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, forecasting rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. Early morning showers brought much-needed respite from the heat, with the minimum temperature recorded at 27°C, slightly above normal by 0.9°C.

While the showers improved air quality and reduced humidity levels, they also led to waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of the city, including areas like RK Puram, ITO, and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road. Commuters were advised to plan their travel cautiously due to poor road conditions and reduced visibility.

The IMD warned of gusty winds and lightning in isolated places, urging residents to stay indoors during intense spells. No disruptions in air or metro services were reported as of noon, though authorities remain on alert in case of worsening conditions.

The yellow alert remains in place until Wednesday morning, as the city continues to receive intermittent rain. Officials are monitoring low-lying areas closely, and municipal teams are working to manage drainage and traffic flow.
