Focus on physics and maths, not just coding: Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s advice to students!

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, India’s Minister of Electronics and IT and a prominent tech entrepreneur, recently shared an important message for students: don’t focus only on coding. He echoed global tech leaders like Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who believe that in the age of AI, understanding core scientific principles is far more valuable than just programming skills.

With AI tools now able to write and debug code, basic programming alone is no longer enough. What cannot be replaced is conceptual clarity, scientific thinking, and problem-solving skills. Chandrasekhar stressed that mastering physics and mathematics gives students the foundation to think critically and innovate.

According to Musk and Huang, the next big breakthroughs will come from people who understand how the world works, not just from better coders. Whether it’s building rockets, designing AI chips, or creating smarter technologies, understanding the fundamentals will give you a clear advantage.

Chandrasekhar’s message is simple: don’t just learn to interact with machines. Learn how the universe works so you can teach machines something truly new. In a future shaped by AI, those who understand the basics of science, maths, and reasoning will always stay ahead.
