Konkan-25 is a joint naval exercise between India and the United Kingdom, held from October 5 to 12, 2025, off India’s western coastline.
What makes this edition special: for the first time ever, both countries are deploying full carrier strike groups together, India’s INS Vikrant and the UK’s HMS Prince of Wales lead their fleets.
The exercise has two phases:
-
Sea phase: complex combat drills at sea- anti-air, anti-submarine, ship maneuvers, flying operations.
-
Harbour phase: naval personnel interactions, ship visits, cultural events and expert exchanges.
India and the UK see this as more than a military drill, it’s part of their growing security partnership. It also ties into their “India-UK Vision 2035” which emphasizes joint defense and maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Indian government says the exercise will deepen interoperability, strengthen maritime security, and project a united message in a changing geopolitical sea
