The India Today feature paints a vivid picture of how Gen Z in India views work very differently. Stability and long tenure, once prized, now matter less. Young professionals—digital natives—are more likely to hop jobs when their current role stagnates their growth, clashes with personal values, or lacks flexibility in work environment. Salary remains important, but so do things like ethical leadership, purpose in the job, supportive work culture, mental-health awareness, and continuous upskilling.
Many are willing to accept roles with lower pay if these intangible factors are strong. Employers are noticing: to attract and retain young talent, HR policies are shifting toward transparency, hybrid/remote options, feedback loops, clear career paths, and value alignment. Meanwhile, surveys show large numbers of Gen Z employees in India say they’ll leave their jobs within a few years if these criteria aren’t met. The shift is more than a trend it signals a changing mindset about success and what it means to have a satisfying career in 2025.
