A fierce early-morning encounter unfolded in East Delhi’s Ghazipur Paper Market when Delhi Police officers confronted a wanted criminal, identified as Khemchand, aged 35 and a resident of Seelampur. The accused, implicated in more than a dozen criminal cases across the NCR region, allegedly produced a weapon and opened fire at the officers during the operation .

In response, police returned fire and shot Khemchand in the leg. He was injured but subsequently arrested and shifted to a hospital for treatment, according to authorities. The police have secured the crime scene and impounded relevant evidence to support judicial proceedings.

This operation marks a success for Delhi Police in curbing dangerous elements who have long evaded capture. Further investigation is underway to connect Khemchand to additional crimes and close those pending cases.
