Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday (July 10, 2025) expressed optimism over the revival of the region’s tourism industry, stating that it is “bouncing back” after the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Speaking to reporters, he emphasized that the continued arrival of tourists sends a “message of hope” and resilience from the Union Territory.
The CM acknowledged the challenges the state has faced in recent weeks but praised the people of J&K and the security forces for their role in maintaining peace and ensuring that the situation remains under control. “Despite the tragic incident, we are witnessing renewed interest in the Valley’s beauty, culture, and heritage,” he said.
Abdullah added that hotel bookings have picked up and tourist footfall remains steady, especially in popular destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg. The administration has reportedly increased security and tourist support services to ensure safety and boost visitor confidence.
The statement comes as the state works to balance safety concerns with efforts to sustain economic revival through tourism.
