In a shocking incident from Maharashtra’s Thane district, a school principal and a staff member were arrested for allegedly forcing several girl students to strip as part of a menstruation check. The case surfaced after a parent filed a police complaint, alleging that the girls were assembled in the school’s convention hall, where they were shown images of blood stains in toilets and on the floor via a projector.
The staff allegedly suspected that one or more of the girls were menstruating and responsible for the stains. They then reportedly made the students undress to find the "culprit," violating their dignity and privacy.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Both accused have been taken into custody.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage among parents, child rights organizations, and the general public, with many calling for stringent action and improved safeguarding policies within educational institutions.
