In today’s hyper-connected world, it may seem like every inch of Earth has been explored. But there are still places you simply cannot go—no matter how wealthy or adventurous you are. Six islands across the globe are permanently off-limits to the public, and one of them is right here in India.
North Sentinel Island in the Andaman Sea is home to the Sentinelese tribe, who have lived in isolation for over 60,000 years. Indian law prohibits anyone from coming within five nautical miles to protect their way of life.
Other forbidden islands include Niihau in Hawaii, which is privately owned and only accessible to native Hawaiians and the owner's family. Poveglia Island in Italy is sealed due to its haunted history and collapsing buildings. Heard Island in Australia is closed to protect its rare wildlife. Ilha da Queimada Grande in Brazil, known as Snake Island, is packed with deadly vipers. North Brother Island in New York is off-limits due to ecological and safety concerns.
These islands are reminders that some corners of the world remain shrouded in mystery-and completely off-limits.
