Fitness expert shares 5 natural sugar substitutes perfect for keto

As sugar cravings often derail keto diets, fitness coach Rahul Kamra of Ketorets offers five natural alternatives that satisfy taste without disrupting ketosis or raising blood glucose levels.

Kamra emphasizes that while sugar-free sweeteners help curb cravings, emotional reliance on sweetness should be avoided: “Mindful moderation is the real secret”.

His top five keto‑friendly picks are:

  1. Stevia – Extracted from Stevia rebaudiana, stevia contains zero calories and carbs, making it ideal for beverages and dressings—just ensure pure, unsweetened sources.

  2. Erythritol – A sugar alcohol naturally found in fruits; it offers familiar sweetness without insulin impact, and its gut tolerance exceeds other polyols.

  3. Monk fruit – Known for mogrosides that don’t raise blood sugar, it delivers a smooth sweetness perfect for desserts and sauces.

  4. Allulose – Though a sugar, it isn’t metabolized by the body, thus negligible to glucose or insulin—excellent in keto-friendly baked treats.

  5. Xylitol – Slightly raising glycemic index, it supports dental health and can be used sparingly; note toxicity risks for pets.

Kamra underscores that even non‑insulin sweeteners can foster emotional reliance. He encourages users to savour sweetness mindfully and in moderation for sustainable keto success.
