HORIBA India Acquires Gujarat-Based Pristine Deeptech to Build Advanced Materials R&D Hub!

This strategic acquisition makes Pristine Deeptech a wholly-owned subsidiary of HORIBA India. The deal, which was finalized effective January 14, 2026, represents a significant move into the "Deep-Tech" sector, focusing on the future of high-performance materials.

Key Acquisition Highlights:

• Diamond Technology Focus: Pristine Deeptech specializes in the research and utilization of lab-grown diamonds. Due to their exceptional thermal conductivity and dielectric strength, these diamonds are critical for next-generation power semiconductors, quantum sensors, and 5G/6G communication.

• Synergy of Expertise: The partnership combines Pristine’s niche domain knowledge in diamond and vacuum technologies with HORIBA’s world-class analytical and measurement systems (such as Raman spectroscopy). This creates an end-to-end capability from material R&D to the development of commercial manufacturing equipment.

• Creating a Global R&D Hub: HORIBA plans to use this acquisition to establish a permanent R&D footprint in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This facility will tap into India’s growing pool of deep-tech engineers to develop technologies for the global market, not just for domestic use.

• Strategic Alignment: Leadership from HORIBA India noted that the move aligns with India's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India) and "Make in India" visions, shifting the focus from simple manufacturing to high-value Intellectual Property (IP) creation within the country.

Why Lab-Grown Diamonds?

As the global tech industry moves toward more powerful AI data centers and electric vehicles (EVs), the heat generated by standard silicon chips has become a bottleneck. Lab-grown diamonds are increasingly viewed as the "Holy Grail" of thermal management, and HORIBA’s acquisition positions them at the forefront of this high-growth semiconductor value chain.

Industry Context:

HORIBA has maintained a business relationship with Pristine Deeptech since 2023. By bringing the startup fully under its wing, the group is reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Indian market as a potential future global innovation hub, joining its existing R&D structures in France, the USA, and the UK.
