India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Notification Released for 42,000+ Vacancies!

The Department of Posts is looking to strengthen its rural delivery network. This is one of the largest employment opportunities for 10th-pass candidates in India, offering a path into the postal system without the pressure of a competitive entrance test.

Key Vacancy Details:

• Total Posts: 42,500+ (Approximate, distributed across 23 circles).

• Designations: * Branch Postmaster (BPM)

• Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

• Dak Sevak

• Salary (TRCA):

• BPM: ₹12,000 – ₹29,380

• ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470

• Job Nature: Contractual/Part-time (4 to 5 hours of work per day).

Eligibility Criteria:

• Educational Qualification: * Secondary School Examination (10th Standard) pass certificate from any recognized board with passing marks in Mathematics and English.

• The candidate should have studied the local language of the applied circle up to the 10th standard.

• Age Limit: 18 to 40 years (as of the last date of application).

• Relaxations: SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), and PwD (10 years).

• Other Skills: Basic computer knowledge, cycling skills, and adequate means of livelihood.

Selection Process:

The selection is based entirely on a system-generated merit list.

1. Merit List: Prepared based on marks obtained in the 10th standard (calculated to the accuracy of 4 decimals).

2. No Exam/Interview: There is no written test or personal interview.

3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original certificates at the district level.

Important Dates:

• Online Application Starts: February 10, 2026

• Last Date to Apply: March 11, 2026

• Correction Window: March 12 – March 14, 2026

• Result/Merit List Declaration: Expected in late March or early April 2026.
