Source : What happens when some of Delhi’s busiest markets get a focused, one-hour makeover? NDMC answered that with a high-impact cleanliness drive across Connaught Place, Khan Market, and Shankar Market on 29 November 2025.
The operation ran in two sharp slots, 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 5 PM to 6 PM, planned as rapid sanitation actions rather than routine sweeping. Each market had 6–8 Palika Sahayaks on duty, supported by manual sweepers, sweeping trolleys, and awareness banners. Under the supervision of the concerned ASI and field staff, teams worked through internal lanes, footpaths, dust pockets, and litter-prone corners to deliver immediate, visible improvement.
Along with cleaning, NDMC also carried out an awareness campaign and issued challans to prevent public littering. A total of 12 challans were issued in both shifts across the three markets, reinforcing accountability.
Shoppers and residents noticed cleaner pathways, fresher surroundings, and quicker waste removal, showcasing what a well-coordinated, time-bound effort can achieve. The drive reflects the vision of NDMC Chairperson Sh. Keshav Chandra IAS to ensure cleaner, more responsible and litter-free markets.
The question now is simple: can this model set a new benchmark for urban sanitation in Delhi?
