A Jaguar fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, near Bhanoda village in Rajasthan’s Churu district. Defence officials confirmed that the aircraft had taken off from the IAF’s Suratgarh base for a routine sortie before crashing into an agricultural field.
The fate of the pilot is currently unknown, and rescue teams have rushed to the site. The area has been cordoned off by security personnel, and visuals from the crash site show debris scattered across farmland.
No civilian casualties have been reported so far. An investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash, which comes amid ongoing discussions about modernizing India’s ageing fleet of Jaguar aircraft.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over flight safety and aircraft maintenance in frontline jets used for ground attack and reconnaissance missions. More updates are expected from the Air Force as search and recovery efforts continue.
