Ahead of the third Test at Lord’s, former England captain Nasser Hussain has named India’s lethal pacer Jasprit Bumrah as their trump card - not captain Shubman Gill or vice-captain Rishabh Pant. England dismissed criticism of resting Bumrah during the Edgbaston Test, which India won decisively by 336 runs to level the series . Hussain emphasized that with two weeks’ rest and strong past performances at Lord’s, “Now they have their trump card coming in on a ground ... he has bowled well at before,” he told Sky Sports.
India heads into the Lord’s Test (series now 1-1) with confidence. They had already showcased dominance at Edgbaston - posting mammoth totals and leveraging bowlers Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj - even without Bumrah . Hussain believes Bumrah’s return will further tilt the balance, especially on a challenging Lord’s surface that may favour pace.
The third Test, slated for July 10, will be a real test of India’s bowling ambitions, with both sides adjusting lineups—England recalling Jofra Archer, and India reinstating Bumrah.
