In the 2025 student union elections at JNU, the Left Unity coalition—comprising All India Students’ Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Democratic Students’ Federation (DSF)—achieved a clean sweep, securing the President, Vice-President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary posts.
The results highlighted a voter turnout of approximately 67 %, slightly below the previous year’s 70 %. For the presidential race, the Left candidate garnered 1,937 votes, while the ABVP-backed counterpart received 1,488. In other key contests, the Left surged ahead by comfortable margins.
This victory reinforces JNU’s long-standing identity as a politically active campus where the Left-leaning student constituency remains strong. Given the ideological contest between left-wing student groups and ABVP–aligned forces, this outcome also signals a reaffirmation of the Left’s organisational strength and campus presence. The result will likely shape campus discourse, student governance priorities and even institutional interactions in the months ahead.
