Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed Operation Sindoor as the "finest example" of India’s commitment to defend Swaraj - or national sovereignty- during an event at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune on July 4 2025.
Unveiling an equestrian statue of Maratha statesman Peshwa Bajirao I, Shah said whenever he is troubled by negative thoughts, he reflects on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bajirao, both icons of self-rule built under challenging conditions. He emphasized that just as these legends fought for sovereignty over centuries, India’s modern leadership and armed forces did their part when required - exemplified most recently by Operation Sindoor.
Shah's comments echoed those of Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, who called the operation a swift deterrent response showcasing naval might and forcing a ceasefire. Analysts note that precise intelligence, decisive political will, and joint force execution - including Army, Navy, and Air Force participation - were key to the mission's success.
By spotlighting the operation alongside Maratha-era valor, Shah tied historical legacy to present-day strategic resolve, underscoring the importance of readiness and ethos in national defense.
