Patriotism Enters Textbooks With Sindoor Module

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is developing a special classroom module on Operation Sindoor to educate students from Classes 3 to 12 about India's strategic military response and diplomatic measures. This initiative follows the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the loss of 26 civilian lives. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The module will be divided into two parts: one for students in Classes 3 to 8 and another for those in Classes 9 to 12. Spanning 8 to 10 pages, it will focus on India's defense strategies, the role of diplomacy, and inter-ministerial coordination in ensuring national security.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the importance of presenting India's history accurately to foster a positive sentiment towards the nation's progress. He indicated that including Operation Sindoor in the curriculum would promote patriotism and national pride among students.

This educational initiative aims to instill a sense of national pride and awareness among young learners, highlighting India's commitment to safeguarding its citizens and sovereignty.
