Rahul Gandhi : 'if Trump's claims are false, say so, PM Modi'

On July 29, 2025, during a Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not responding to former U.S. President Donald Trump's assertions of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Gandhi challenged Modi to publicly refute Trump's claims, stating, "If Trump's statements are false, then call him a liar."

Gandhi highlighted that Trump has made this claim 25 times over 73 days, yet the Indian government has remained silent. He questioned the absence of international condemnation for Pakistan's role in the Pahalgam terror attack, suggesting a failure in India's diplomatic outreach.

Expressing frustration, Gandhi banged the table during his speech, prompting Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to caution him against damaging House property.

The incident underscores the escalating political tensions surrounding India's foreign policy and the government's handling of cross-border conflicts.
