Samsung is taking a major leap in healthcare tech. The company announced that its smartphones and smartwatches could soon help detect early signs of Alzheimer’s, the most common form of dementia.
According to Samsung, researchers have developed digital biomarker technology that monitors cognitive function using everyday device data. This includes app usage, typing speed, messaging patterns, call frequency, sleep, and voice. By analyzing these patterns, the devices could warn users about potential cognitive decline even before noticeable symptoms appear.
The innovation aims to make early detection more accessible, potentially improving preventive care and treatment outcomes. Traditionally, Alzheimer’s is diagnosed after significant symptoms appear, often delaying interventions. Samsung’s tech could transform the way we monitor brain health using tools we already carry daily.
This move aligns with a growing trend of wearables supporting mental and cognitive health, alongside physical fitness. While the technology is still in development, it signals a future where smartphones and watches do more than track steps—they could save lives.
Early detection could revolutionize Alzheimer’s care—are you ready to check your brain health through your phone?
