The Gujarat semiconductor corridor is witnessing unprecedented construction and commissioning activity. The state is effectively becoming the "Silicon Heart" of India, with multi-billion dollar projects transitioning from blueprints to operational factories.

Key Project Updates (As of March 2026):

• CG Semi’s OSAT Facility (Sanand): * Following its inauguration in late 2025, the G1 facility is currently undergoing final customer qualification runs.

• Commercial production is slated to begin in mid-2026, focusing on 15 million chips per day for consumer, industrial, and automotive applications.

• The G2 facility, located 3 km away, is already under construction and expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

• Tata Electronics Mega-Fab (Dholera):

• In partnership with Taiwan’s PSMC, civil construction has crossed the 50% milestone.

• Over 7,000 skilled workers and engineers are currently mobilized on-site to meet the aggressive December 2026 deadline.

• The facility will produce 28nm, 50nm, and 55nm chips, catering to high-growth sectors like EVs, telecom, and defense.

• Supporting Infrastructure: The Gujarat government has sanctioned 1,500 residential units in Dholera specifically for Tata employees and expatriates from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, creating a "Global Tent City" environment.

• The "Four-Plant" Year: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed today that of the 10 approved semiconductor units in India, four will be operational in 2026, including the Micron, CG Semi, and Tata facilities.
