Cloud data leader Snowflake and AI pioneer OpenAI have announced a $200 million, multi-year strategic partnership aimed at bringing enterprise-grade artificial intelligence directly into Snowflake’s data ecosystem. This collaboration goes beyond traditional API-based AI by embedding OpenAI’s most advanced models — including GPT-5.2 — natively within Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud and related platforms.
Under the deal, more than 12,600 global customers will be able to run AI-powered workflows, analytics and custom applications without transferring sensitive data outside their governed environments, addressing key concerns around security and compliance that have slowed wider AI adoption. Snowflake’s Cortex AI and Snowflake Intelligence platforms will serve as the backbone for these capabilities, allowing users to query and act on structured and unstructured data with natural language and AI agents.
The partnership signifies a shift in enterprise technology: rather than treating AI as a separate service, it becomes a native, data-centric capability that can reason over proprietary datasets and automate complex business tasks. Businesses in sectors like analytics, operations and customer service are expected to benefit directly by building context-aware AI agents that bridge data insights and real-world decision-making — without compromising governance.
