Every year in India, over 76,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. For many of them, treatment means leaving home, schools, and friends. This often leads to long breaks in their education. But CanKids KidsCan, an NGO dedicated to supporting children with cancer, is changing that.
CanKids has introduced a unique model called the “Education Support Program,” which sets up classrooms right inside or near hospitals. These "Yellow Rooms" allow children to keep learning while receiving treatment. The goal is not just to help them pass exams but to give them a sense of normal life, hope, and confidence.
The NGO works closely with the child’s school, teachers, and even state education boards to ensure there’s no gap in their learning. They also provide trained teachers, emotional support, and a positive learning environment.
So far, over 3,000 children across 17 states have benefited from this initiative. CanKids proves that cancer care is not just about medicine-it’s about helping children live a full life, with dignity and dreams.
Their work shows that when we support both health and education, we give these brave kids a real chance at a better future.
