This IIT Internship Could Change Your Summer!

India’s research ecosystem is opening its doors wider, and IIT Gandhinagar’s Summer Research Internship Programme (SRIP) 2026 is emerging as one of the most sought-after student opportunities this year. Designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students across disciplines, the programme allows participants to work directly with faculty mentors on real research projects inside a premier IIT campus. Applications are open until March 5, with the internship scheduled between May 7 and July 16, 2026, requiring a minimum eight-week commitment.

Unlike conventional internships focused only on technical tasks, SRIP blends academic learning with holistic development. Selected interns receive a weekly stipend of ₹2,000 — up to ₹16,000 in total — along with opportunities to compete for the prestigious Bhalodia-Khetan Summer Research Excellence Award worth ₹50,000.

The experience extends beyond laboratories. Students participate in lecture series, informal academic discussions like “Chalk the Talk,” poster presentations, and cultural and sports activities, creating a campus immersion rather than just a research assignment.

For many students, SRIP acts as a gateway into higher research, global education pathways, and future innovation careers — proving that one summer can sometimes redefine an entire academic journey.
