This Kerala startup makes bottles that disappear in 3 months!

India generates nearly 3.5 million tonnes of plastic waste annually. But a Kerala-based startup, Green Bio, is tackling this problem head-on-with bottles that vanish in just 3 months.

Founded by Pradeep Kokkat and Ali Asgar, Green Bio manufactures bottles that look and feel like plastic-but are made from bioplastics, specifically Polylactide (PLA) derived from corn and sugarcane. Once discarded, these bottles decompose in 180 days, leaving behind only water, carbon dioxide, and biomass. No toxins. No microplastics.

Their innovation goes beyond just bottles-even the caps and labels are biodegradable, unlike conventional PET bottles whose caps often escape recycling.

From 100ml to 1-litre sizes, the bottles are manufactured using PLA granules into preforms that can be blown into standard packaging sizes. What makes it even better? Green Bio is officially backed by the Kerala Startup Mission, signaling its promising future.

Their goal is simple: expand this tech across India to help manufacturers adopt sustainable packaging and slash plastic pollution at the source.

In a world drowning in plastic, Green Bio is showing us a way out-one bottle at a time.
