In a jaw-dropping IPL 2025 showdown, Punjab Kings stunned the cricketing world by defending the lowest-ever total in IPL history-just 111 runs-to beat reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders by 16 runs in New Chandigarh. What seemed like a cakewalk for KKR turned into an epic meltdown, as they were bundled out for 95 inside 16 overs!
The match, led by comeback king Shreyas Iyer, was dripping with drama. Dismissed by KKR just last year despite clinching the title with them, Iyer had his moment of poetic justice. And when Marco Jansen took the final wicket of Andre Russell, Ricky Ponting erupted like never before, calling it “the best IPL win” he’s ever experienced.
Yuzvendra Chahal spun pure magic, ripping through KKR’s middle order with 4 game-changing wickets. From 62/2 to an embarrassing collapse, KKR lost 8 wickets for just 33 runs. Their dreams of topping the table with a quick chase? Shattered.
Even Preity Zinta couldn’t hold back tears of joy, watching her underdogs rewrite history. Earlier in the day, KKR’s bowlers dominated, restricting PBKS to 111. But what followed was pure chaos-proving once again that in the IPL, no total is too small and no twist too wild.
This wasn’t just a win-it was a statement. And it might just go down as the biggest upset in IPL history.
