The BCCI has shortlisted Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad as potential venues to host the remaining 16 matches of the IPL 2025 season, provided the Indian government approves resumption in May. The 18th edition of the tournament was suspended for a week due to escalating India-Pakistan tensions, with 57 matches already completed.
Originally, Eden Gardens was set to host Qualifier 2 and the Final, but the shift may exclude Kolkata if the new venues are finalized. The IPL governing council is racing against time, with the WTC final scheduled for June 11.
A total of 12 league matches and four playoff games remain. A significant challenge lies in recalling overseas players, many of whom have returned home amid uncertainty. While franchise officials were informally notified of the plan, no official cut-off date has been announced for a final decision. The BCCI may defer the remainder of the season later in the year if May resumption is not feasible.
