'1st to 10,000 runs' turns 76 today! The OG run-machine of India!

Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar celebrates his 76th birthday today, marking another milestone for one of the game's greatest batters. The former India captain played 233 international matches, scoring 13,214 runs with 35 centuries.

Gavaskar became the first player to reach 10,000 Test runs, setting benchmarks for future generations. His stunning debut against the West Indies in 1971 saw him score 774 runs—still the most by any player in their debut Test series.

The Mumbai-born batter was renowned for his solid technique and fearless approach against world-class fast bowlers. A member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning team, Gavaskar's true legacy lies in inspiring a cricket-loving nation to believe they could compete with the world's best.
