Hong Fu, a global footwear manufacturing leader, has inaugurated a cutting-edge facility in Tamil Nadu's Panapakkam region, marking a major step in India’s industrial growth. Spearheaded by Aqeel Panaruna, the Joint Venture Partner, this project signifies more than manufacturing excellence—it is a commitment to job creation, community development, and Tamil Nadu's vision of inclusive progress.
The project began with two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed with the Tamil Nadu government. The first agreement in April 2022 pledged Rs 1,000 crore, followed by an additional Rs 500 crore investment in January 2024, bringing the total to Rs 1,500 crore. This significant investment underscores the state’s appeal as a prime destination for global manufacturing endeavors.
Aqeel Panaruna highlighted the dual mission of the facility: crafting world-class footwear while empowering local communities. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister and Industries Minister T R B Rajaa, Panaruna emphasized the collaborative effort in making this vision a reality.
R Selvam, executive director of the Council for Leather Exports, hailed the Panapakkam facility as a crucial milestone for India’s footwear manufacturing sector. He noted that the influx of investments underscores the industry’s growth potential and aligns with the Make-in-India initiative’s goals.
This landmark project reinforces Tamil Nadu’s global stature as a manufacturing powerhouse while fostering economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development, reflecting the state’s commitment to inclusive progress and industrial excellence.
