The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has submitted its preliminary report on the AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and other concerned agencies, sources confirmed on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. The report marks the first formal documentation of initial findings from the investigation into the tragic accident.
Though the contents of the report remain confidential, it is expected to include early assessments of technical data, black box analysis, and witness testimonies. Investigators have reportedly focused on possible mechanical failures, pilot response, and weather conditions at the time of the crash. Further insights will emerge in the final report, which typically follows months of detailed forensic and technical evaluations.
The AI-171 crash sent shockwaves across India’s aviation sector and prompted renewed scrutiny on aircraft maintenance, pilot training, and emergency preparedness. The submission of the preliminary report is a critical step in determining responsibility and improving future aviation safety protocols.
The Ministry has not yet issued a public statement regarding the findings.
