Air India and Airbus have joined forces to open a 12,000 sq.m. world-class pilot training facility at the Air India Aviation Training Academy in Gurugram, Haryana. Equipped with 10 full flight simulators, advanced classrooms, and briefing rooms, the hub is designed to train pilots for A320 and A350 aircraft families.
Currently, the academy hosts 2 A320 simulators, with plans to add 6 more A320 and 2 A350 simulators, aiming to train 5,000+ pilots over the next decade.
Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu inaugurated the facility, highlighting its role in making India’s aviation industry self-reliant. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson called it a “major step forward in the airline’s transformation,” while Airbus India MD Jürgen Westermeier described it as a strategic investment in India’s aerospace future.
This hub complements Air India’s broader expansion, including 570 new aircraft orders post-Tata Group takeover, a Flying Training Organisation in Maharashtra, and a Maintenance Training Organisation in Bengaluru, strengthening India as a global aviation powerhouse.
