BJP fields folk Singer Maithili Thakur from Alinagar in second Bihar polls candidate list!

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, October 15, released its second list of 12 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Among the key names is renowned folk singer Maithili Thakur, who will contest from the Alinagar constituency in Darbhanga district. Thakur, who joined the BJP just a day earlier, is one of two women candidates in the latest list.

The BJP’s decision to field Thakur is seen as a strategic move to connect with young and cultural voters in the Mithilanchal region, where her music and social work have earned wide respect. The second list also features former IPS officer Anand Mishra from Buxar, along with other notable candidates including Ranjan Kumar (Muzaffarpur) and Subhash Singh (Gopalganj).

With this announcement, the BJP has named 83 of its 101 candidates for the two-phase elections scheduled on November 6 and 11, 2025. The party aims to consolidate its regional outreach ahead of the crucial polls.
