Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has sparked debate by recalling his late father’s remarks from 2014, where Ram Vilas Paswan had reportedly said he would "prefer poison over joining the BJP." The statement, made during a politically sensitive period, contrasts sharply with Chirag’s recent return to the NDA alliance, raising eyebrows as Bihar gears up for elections.
Chirag, however, emphasized that his father's decision to eventually ally with the BJP in 2014 stemmed from a strategic vision, seeing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the "leader of the future." He asserted that the move then and now was made in Bihar’s best interest. The remark came while addressing party members and the press, indicating a deeper narrative around legacy, political evolution, and alliance-building.
As Bihar’s political landscape evolves, Chirag’s comments are being dissected not just as a nod to history, but as a signal of the LJP’s renewed positioning in the NDA. The upcoming state elections are expected to see fierce contestation, with alliances and ideological narratives at the forefront.
