“I have been zoning out from things since childhood”, says Alia Bhatt.
“I can’t put my thoughts together”
“I constantly feel guilty”
“I feel I am always behind trying to catch up for things” sounds relatable? Well, that is what we call ADHD.
Recently, actress Alia Bhatt opened up about her ADHD diagnosis, she says, “I have been zoning out from things since childhood, I would zone out in the classroom or while having a conversation”, breaking the stigma around this often-misunderstood condition.
Her candidness about living with ADHD brings attention to the fact that even big personalities can face such challenges.
Do you know what ADHD feels like? It feels like having a hyperactive brain where 92 tabs are open at the same time, some of them with music or ads on repeat.
Alia, known for her stellar performances in films like Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi, in an interview told how she had to learn to manage her ADHD to balance her career and personal life. Her openness highlights that ADHD doesn't define you, instead, it's about how you choose to manage it. Even Albert Einstein is suspected to have lived with ADHD symptoms.
Living with ADHD feels like juggling tasks while constantly chasing your own thoughts. It’s more than just a difficulty with focus — for many, it shapes their lifestyle in ways that require careful adaptation, resilience, and self-awareness.
What is ADHD?
ADHD i.e. Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that often begins in childhood but can persist into adulthood.
Symptoms include inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which can make everyday tasks, relationships, and professional life more challenging. But, ADHD affects individuals differently and they find their own ways to deal with it.
For individuals living with ADHD, creating a structured routine is essential. Alia Bhatt, Simone Biles, Justin Timberlake and many other celebs with ADHD, follows strict schedules to keep their day on track.
Here’s what you can do to keep your ADHD in control and make your life a little not so troublesome :)
Put EVERY work you have on your phone calendar to keep yourself organized
Have any big events coming? Mark your dates on your calendar a week or a month before
NO! don’t live on coffee every time you feel brain fogged it is only going to make things worse for you. Once a while is fine though
Be kind to yourself the way you would be with your kid, it will encourage you and make your mind think that you are capable of doing things
If you feel your kid has ADHD symptoms and you’re skeptical about it please do schedule an appointment with a certified Occupational Therapist. The early the diagnosis, the sooner the care
Get proper minimum 7-hour sleep to keep yourself on track
Write write write! whatever crosses your mind just jot it down in your journal or phone
To keep yourself sane both mentally and physically, get a gym membership! Pilates or yoga or whatever works for you
While this disorder can present challenges, it also brings strengths like creativity, innovation, and high energy.
It’s about finding strategies that work and using the ADHD brain’s potential to think outside the box and solve problems creatively.
Living with ADHD means navigating life with a different rhythm, but it’s a rhythm that, once understood, can lead to both personal and professional success.
