Delhi Govt collabs with IIT Delhi! DTC 2.0 on the cards?

The Delhi government has initiated a major overhaul of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to provide world-class public transport services. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the introduction of unified smart travel cards for seamless travel across DTC buses, Delhi Metro, and the upcoming RRTS system, plus special Pink Cards offering free travel for women and transgender residents.

Currently operating at a ₹60,000 crore loss, DTC will undergo comprehensive restructuring with IIT Delhi designing new routes starting with a Yamuna Vihar pilot project. The capital's 4,627 bus queue shelters will be modernized with real-time displays, LED lighting, and solar power through PPP models. Interstate bus terminals will be upgraded to airport-like facilities, supporting Delhi's 4,800-strong electric bus fleet.
