Just 50 meters from WHO’s Delhi office, a silent revolution is changing lives. Pehchaan: The Street School has educated over 5,000+ underprivileged children in the past decade - all without a single classroom.
Founded in 2015 by Akash Tandon, Pehchaan began with five students and one blackboard under a tree. Today, it boasts a 94% board pass rate, 1,600+ active students, and 1,200+ volunteers across India. What makes it unique? There are no buildings - just community spaces, passionate mentors, and the belief that every child deserves a future.
One of its stars, Deepak Kumar, became the first in his slum to crack Delhi University. With no coaching, he scored 93% in economics, thanks to Pehchaan’s peer-led learning model and mentorship.
Funded by individual donations and CSR, Pehchaan offers more than education. It teaches life skills, builds dreams, and inspires others to replicate the model in their own communities.
In slums where hope once vanished, Pehchaan is planting seeds of possibility - proving you don’t need a building to build a future.
